EVME Detailed Description

0000]        The Electric Vehicle Mileage Extender (EVME) has many parts to it and the dimensions are approximate.  The manufacturer can change some aspects according to their own discretion.

[0000]      As shown in FIG. 1, the Wind Funnel 01 which catches the air coming in through the vehicle’s front grill and can be made of aluminum.  Its dimensions are 18” Wide x 10” long x 8” high on the right side and it narrows down to the dimensions of 18.  Also shown in FIG. 1, is the Generator 02 which creates the electricity to charge the batteries for the Electric Vehicle.  Its dimensions are 7” high x 7” wide x 7” thick and as shown in FIG. 1is the Wind Turbine Exhaust 03 which takes the exhausted, unused wind out to be released underneath the Electric Vehicle and can be made of aluminum. It is attached to the Housing 10 using an epoxy or other resin and has a thickness of 1/4” and has the same outer dimensions as the Housing 10, but it has a flexible part to begin with that helps to bend easily down towards the bottom of the vehicle the EVME is being used in.  Its dimensions vary by the model of the vehicle but it is roughly 28” long and has a diameter of 8”.

[0000]      As shown in FIG. 11, the Wind Turbine 04, also made of aluminum which catches the wind coming in through the front grill of the Electric Vehicle.  Its dimensions are 6” tall x 6” long x 12.5” wide.  Also shown in FIG 11, is the Generator Gears 05 that are connected to the Wind Turbine by a belt.  They are what turns the piston that’s connected to the Generator which creates the electricity to power the batteries.  There are three gears with a thickness of 1/2”.  The diameters of the gears are 6”, 4”, and 2” respectively.  The Bug Grill 06, is removable for cleaning.  Its dimensions also vary by the Electric Vehicle model, but are roughly 8” x 40” x 2”.  Battery 1 07 and Battery 2 08 are used if the Electric Vehicle Batteries are located below the EVME.  Battery 1 07 is being used to charge the Vehicle while Battery 2 08 is being charged and vice versa.  The Battery Coolant System 09 is a part of the Grill of the Vehicle and allows air to flow throughout the Vehicle to help cool the EVME and Batteries. The Housing 10 of the EVME is where the gears are attached and air flows through to the Exhaust 03.  It can be made of carbon fiber and its dimensions are approximately 8” long x 8” tall x 8” wide.

[0000]            The Main Front Grill 11 is what allows air to be funneled into the EVME and has rough dimensions of 8” x 40” x 2”.  The Belt 12 is connecting the Wind Turbine 03 to the Generator Gears 05.  The Housing 13 of the EVME which contains the 1500 Watt Wind Turbine 03 and can be made of Carbon Fiber to help make it more supportive of the Wind Turbine regardless of which type is used.  Carbon Fiber is a strong and heat-resistant material, so it can be helpful to have that kind of housing for the EVME in order to protect and support the Wind Turbine 03 and the Generator Gears 05.  The dimensions for the Housing 13 are approximately 12” long x 8” tall x 8” wide.  The Gear Shifter 14 is for Generator Gears 05 and can adjust the how quickly the EVME is able to Generate Power to charge the Electric Batteries 07 and 08.  TheHousing 15 for the part of the Wind Turbine which attaches to the Belt 12 as well as the Generator Gears 05.  This Housing 15 can be made of Carbon Fiber as well to help keep too much heat from getting in or out of that part of the EVME. It’s dimensions should give at least 2-3” of separation from the moving parts within it and it should be attached to the other Housing 10 and Housing 13.

[0000]      The Power Gauge 16 is used to indicate how much power the battery that’s being used to run the Electric Vehicle has and how much of the backup battery is charged.  There are wires from the batteries themselves that connect to the gauge in order to show an accurate display for this gauge.  It should be designed to be of a similar size diameter as the other gauges already in an Electric Vehicle (6” in diameter).  The Plate 17 holds the EVME in place and supports the majority of the device.  It’s dimensions should be approximately 1/2” thick and it’s outer shape should be similar to the outer dimensions of the EVME.  It can be made out of carbon fiber or aluminum, whichever material is easier to manufacture and attach to the inner housing of the vehicle the EVME is installed in.

[0000]      The part of the EVME Inner Funnel 18 is what connects to the Outer Funnel 01.  It is approximately 1/2” thick and the outer dimensions are approximately 4”tall x8”wide x 4”long and it is secured inside the Housing 13 using an epoxy or other resin.  That’s also how each section of the Housing 10 and Housing 13 are connected to each other.  The Electric Motor 19 already included in the Electric Vehicle Design.  The Storage area 20 under the hood which is common in most Electric Vehicles.  The Straight Paddle 21 to be used on the Wind Turbine is made of carbon fiber and is 1/3” thick and has the dimensions of 3 1/2” long x 8”wide.  There are approximately 6 of them attached to the cylinder by epoxy or another resin.   The Bent Paddle 22  is also 1/3” thick and 8” wide and it’s bent at 1 3/4” for another design method to create the rotation of the cylinder.  The main drive gear 23 of the wind turbine and has an approximately 5 1/2” diameter and a thickness of 1”.  The Main Bearing 24 is the part that’s holding the wind turbine in place in the housing 13.The Bracket 25 can be added to the design which holds the Wind Turbine in place with more support by attaching to the Bottom Plate 17.  The Bracket 25 can be made out of steel or carbon fiber, however it should be mentioned that if the housing surrounding the Wind Turbine 03 is made of aluminum or steel instead of carbon fiber, then the Bracket 25 should most likely be added in order to provide more support because a lot of pressure will be applied to the main cylinder that supports the paddles of the Wind Turbine 03.
